The Deane Center is delighted to have Songs From The Road Band. Based in Ashville, NC Charles Humphrey III, Mark Schimick, Sam Wharton, and James Schlender have emerged as one of the heaviest touring bands in the country since March 2018. They're currently touring to support their number one single Waiting on a Ride.
These seasoned musicians are award winning players and have a dynamic style all of their own. Schlender alone has 2 National Fiddle awards and is one of the top five string players in the world! Wharton's fast pickin' guitar is complemented by his smooth southern vocals that give life to their hit songs Token of Love and Road to Nowhere! Schimick has a virtuostic mandolin style all his own that can't be beat! Humphrey holds it all down with bass, and is Bluegrass Songwritter of the Year nominee, and a NC Music Hall of Fame member with a Grammy under his belt for songwriting and production!
